The word "curry" came from of the Tamil language: KARI (dressing) and became the word curry by a phonetic diversion, done by English-speaking Indians. Every currys have the common characteristic of being a balanced mixture of several spices, including herbs. However, proportions differed depending on formulas, families, religions, or chefs. An Indian curry may be obtained from seventeen ingredients of which the Gran Massala is the most famous.
